PAOLOZZI AND HAMILTON

Paolozzi and Hamilton

Eduardo Paolozzi and Richard Hamilton are famous Pop Artists from the Pop Art Movement who had mix feelings between European and American pop culture. Both cultures focused on the mass objects and images criticizing the excess. In Hamilton’s college, “just what is it that makes today’s homes so different, so appealing?” (1956), the artists combine images from different mass media sources. On the other hand, Richard had selected each image with criteria, having in mind a coherent consumer survey of the post-war culture.

In brief, the participants of the Independent Group were the artist that began to present the imagery of mass media. They knew the challenges against the traditional art categories that there were in America and Britain after 1945.
